Bellefontaine High School cross country runner goes viral after helping someone finish a race

BELLEFONTAINE — Bellefontaine High School Junior Connor Skidmore was the only member of his team running in the Regional Cross Country Meet last weekend in Troy.

Skidmore hoped to advance to State, but ended up making an impression with other runners and people in the stands.

As Skidmore approached the finish lane, he saw an injured runner from Mason High School and Connor decided to stop and help him.

He supported the runner as they both crossed the finish line.

A video of Connor helping the Mason runner was posted to TikTok and has received several thousand likes.

Connor said in his mind, helping the fellow runner was just the right thing to do.

I grew up in Springfield and I'm a big fan of all things Springfield, including Schuler's & the Clark County Fair. A career in journalism never really was a serious thought until the end of high school. You just have epiphanies sometimes, and that's the only way I can explain why I got into this line of work – but I'm happier for it!
