Bald eagles in Dayton provide distraction from chaos and controversy

DAYTON — As a riotous mob clawed its way through the country’s Capitol, a symbol of American patriotism flew high above the Miami Valley.

The Carillon Park eagles, Orv and Willa, are giving their fans an escape from the chaos and controversy.

“Especially during these chaotic times right now, it’s just a big stress relief. It takes all the worries off your mind. It’s just a great thing to see, watching the American eagle,” said Roger Garber, who photographs the eagles daily.

Garber and others gather inside the park and along Carillon Boulevard to catch glimpses of the pair in their nest, flying to the river, and perched on their favorite trees.

Garber took all of the photos in the slideshow. In the last four years, Garber estimates he has taken 20,000 photos of the birds.
