Annual Ride for Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton sets fundraising record

DAYTON — Organizers of the 2021 Ride for Ronald McDonald House Charities Dayton presented their largest contribution ever on Saturday afternoon.

Organizers Mike and Paula Schmitz, joined by a group of ride committee members and presenting sponsors, presented the charity with a check for $37,403 this afternoon. The amount was three times that of their 2020 contribution of $11,353.83. Money was raised last year despite the ride being cancelled.

Not only was this year’s donation an increase from the previous year, but organizers said it was also more that the total raised since the first annual ride in 2018.

“This a record-breaking, actually record-shattering year for us which is due to the efforts of all of our volunteers and committee members helping,” Mike Schmitz said.

The ride, which stretched 70 miles, was held July 10 and included 220 bikers. In a release, organizers said a raffle and silent auction was offered.
