Child found safe, Amber Alert cancelled for 9-year-old girl near Columbus

FRANKLIN COUNTY — UPDATE @ 2:30 p.m.:

Jazmia Barton has been found safe and the Columbus police department has cancelled the Amber Alert for Central Ohio.

INITIAL REPORT:

Police have issued an Amber Alert for a 9-year-old girl who was abducted in the city of Columbus around 6 a.m.

Barton is a black female who weighs 70 pounds, is 4-foot-nine-inches tall with black hair and brown eyes.

She was last seen wearing a pink coat, blue jeans and pink socks, according to Columbus police.

Barton was inside a black or dark blue 2004 Ford Explorer with Ohio license plate number F391441 that was stolen at 1235 21st Avenue in Columbus.

The alert has been issued for Central Ohio including Delaware, Fairfield, Fayette, Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Madison, Muskingum, Perry, Pickaway and Union counties.
