Remnants of Alberto to bring rain, gusty wind to the Miami Valley

Alberto, the first named storm of the Atlantic Ocean hurricane season, has moved onto land and is impacting Alabama and the Tennessee Valley. It is a subtropical depression as of Tuesday morning.

“The remnants of this system will bring an increase in moisture into the Miami Valley midweek,” said Storm Center 7 Meteorologist Kirstie Zontini.

The forecast track then indicates the remnants of Alberto could influence the weather here on Wednesday and Thursday. The main threat for this area would be widespread showers, but a threat for some strong storms Wednesday will also be monitored. Winds will also be gusty Wednesday around 30 mph. However, this will not be like impacts felt from the remnants of Hurricane Ike.

The WHIO Weather App may alert you if the Miami Valley is placed within the uncertainty cone issued by the National Hurricane Center. If you get that alert, it doesn't mean to expect a tropical storm, but that there is an increased possibility of some influence of the storm.
