5-year-old boy found in retention pond in Warren County, taken to hospital

DEERFIELD TWP. — Deputies and firemen found a 5-year-old boy in a retention pond in Deerfield Twp. and pulled him from the water Friday around 7 p.m.

They received a call reporting that a child with autism was missing in the 7800 block of Birchwood Court, according to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office.

After searching the area, crews were able to find him, pull him from the water, and take him to a local hospital.

Details on the child’s condition or how the incident may have happened are not available yet and the rescue is an ongoing investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
