2 crashes involving driving under the influence reported in Darke County Friday evening

DARKE COUNTY — Two separate crashes were reported in Darke County Friday and the drivers in both incidents were arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence.

The first crash happened just before 6 p.m. in the 2500 block of Gordon Landis Road in Arcanum.

Investigators say a 2014 Chevy Traverse was traveling south on Gordon Landis Road when the truck went off the side of the road and struck a tree then a utility pole.

The 40-year-old male driver was treated at the scene, then arrested for driving under the influence and cited for failure to control.

Later in the evening, just before 11 p.m., deputies responded to a crash in the 8100 block of state Route 47 on a report of a crash.

Deputies in that investigation found that a 1999 Ford Ranger was traveling west on state Route 47 when the 49-year-old male driver went off the right side of the road and lost control.

The truck travelled back into the roadway, crossed the center line and landed on its side in the ditch.

The driver of the Ford Ranger was also treated at the scene, arrested for driving under the influence and cited for failure to control.
