Walters was the passenger in a car driven by his brother, when he “exited the front passenger side of the vehicle...and pulls out a handgun.”

“Raymond begins to fire the gun at (the victim),” court records read.

A bullet hit a nearby garage, the bill of the victim’s baseball hat and a third shot hit the 45-year-old victim in the back of his head as he tried to run away, according to police.

The victim was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but died Tuesday, according to investigators.

Walters then jumped back into the car with his brother and the two drive off. No charges have been filed against Walters’ brother, according to online records.

As the car drives off Walters fired another shot toward a resident at a house in the 1000 block of Gerhard Street.

Walters has previous convictions in Montgomery County for attempted murder and felonious assault. He also has violent crime convictions in Hamilton, Scioto, Pike and Highland counties.

Walters is the uncle of Raymond A. Walters, who is charged in a separate incident where he’s accused of stabbing his father before stealing a Riverside police cruiser and crashing it, killing two girls near the downtown Dayton Metro Library branch.
