ROSS TWP. — The Ross Twp. Fire Department will receive nearly $170,000 in federal funds to pay for new equipment, Sen. Rob Portman announced last week.
The grant award from the Assistance to Firefighters Grants Program through the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency will provide the department resources for additional protective equipment.
The grant, which is $168,523, will pay for self-contained breathing apparatus units.
“This funding will provide the Ross Twp. Fire Department with critical protective equipment and strengthen its ability to carry out its mission of saving lives and protecting the public,” Portman said.
In the same announcement, the city of Cincinnati’s Police and Fire departments will receive $73,517 as part of FEMA’s Port Security Grant Program. Those funds will be for the Port of Cincinnati’s River Surveillance Camera Program.
