CLEARCREEK TWP. — UPDATE @7:25 p.m.:
The Clearcreek Twp. Board of Trustees voted unanimously to deny a rezoning and lot size change sought by Oberer Land Developers.
Ed Wade, board president, said Oberer can “get along with the current zoning and have a nice development there.”
Jeffrey Trick, one of the owners, said he was in favor of the proposed 85-home planned community recommended for approval by the township zoning commission.
“We came to the conclusion we had to sell the farm whether we wanted to or not,” said Trick, who lives on the property.
The other seven people who spoke during the public hearing preceding the vote were in opposition. Close to 300 signatures were submitted in opposition.
“We’re against trying to cram as much as you can into a small parcel,’ said resident Brad Johnson.
Residents living in and around Springboro say they have gathered more than 200 signatures in opposition to a rezoning sought by Oberer Land Developers for the Montgomery Farm, 51 acres just beyond Springboro’s southern border.
At 5:30 p.m. today, the Clearcreek Twp. Board of Trustees has scheduled a public hearing on the proposed rezoning, originally sought in November.
Oberer has reduced from 100 to 85 — as recommended by the township zoning commission — the number of lots sought for the farm just east of the intersection of Ohio 741 and Red Lion-Five Points Road.
The developer also wants the township to permit lesser lot sizes for the development.
The residents want the trustees to hold Oberer to 70 lots permitted through regular zoning in the development.
“In conclusion, we ask you to vote ‘NO’ against the Rezoning on Feb. 11, 2019,” a cover letter to be submitted with the signatures said.
The residents come from the Farms of Heatherwoode, Heatherwoode, Clearcreek Estates, Oakland Hills neighborhoods, and nearby properties.
A vote is expected tonight on the rezoning.
