A large trash fire inside the Montgomery County Solid Waste Plant on Webster Street required the response of four different fire departments overnight.

Firefighters responded to the plant, 6589 Webster Street, around 1 a.m. after receiving an alarm at the location and several phone calls reporting smoke coming from the building.

Fire crews from Vandalia, Huber Heights, Butler Twp. and Harrison Twp. responded to douse the flames, which did not damage the building itself, firefighters said.

An overgrown dumpster fire spread to other piles of trash inside the complex, but the sprinkler system prevented the flames from damaging any part of the building itself.

The business was closed at the time of the fire and an official cause has not been determined.
