Indictment: California man allegedly threatened to harm OSU football team during Michigan game

COLUMBUS — A California man is facing a federal charge for allegedly making a threat against The Ohio State University during the 2018 football game against Michigan, according to court records.

Daniel Rippy was arrested Sunday in Alameda County, California on a charge of making threats across state lines.

A federal grand jury in the Southern District of Ohio indicted Rippy in September.

According to the indictment, Rippy made the threat to the school from California during the Nov. 24 game, stating, “your school is going to get shot the f— up and I’m seriously going to hurt the students and all the players from the football team.”

He appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California Tuesday where he was released on $50,000 bail, court records show.
