A new Beavercreek brewpub will be brewing more than just beer.
When it opens this fall at 3725 Presidential Drive across from Wright State University, The Wandering Griffin will include a craft coffee bar called “Wanderlust.” And Shane Anderson, founder of Ghostlight Coffee in Dayton, will help launch the effort.
Anderson told this news outlet Tuesday that he met Wandering Griffin brewpub co-founder Brian Young through Ghostlight Coffee and Fifth Street Brewpub, where Young served as president of the board until last fall.
“We’ve talked several times about craft beer and craft coffee sharing space,” Anderson said. Now that Young has confirmed plans to open The Wandering Griffin in a former Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant, their ideas will become reality.
Anderson said he’ll oversee the development of Wanderlust Coffee Bar, including training employees. He will not have an ownership stake in Wanderlust, and the venture will have no impact on the popular Ghostlight, which Anderson described as “my baby.”
It makes sense to operate a craft brewery/restaurant in shared space with a coffee bar, with its early-morning hours. Wanderlust will feature a circular bar that spans two rooms, and at night, it could offer seating for brewpub customers, Anderson said.
Young said Wanderlust will add a distinctive component to The Wandering Griffin and will complement its offerings.
