Firefighters rescued a dog from a house fire today after a father and son were able to escape the home through a window.

The fire was reported shortly after 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Cato Drive. A son woke up his father, and the two escaped through a window, officials said.

While battling the fire, a semi-conscious dog was found inside. Crews placed an oxygen mask designed for dogs on the rescued animal, and it appeared to be doing OK.
