GREENVILLE, Ohio — Officials with the Darke County Board of Election said Wednesday that an error resulted in a limited number of Darke County voters receiving an incorrect return envelope with their ballot.
Darke Co. BOE said in a release that the return envelope of those impacted had a return address for Huron County Board of Elections instead of Darke County. The number of voters impacted was no more than 200 who received the wrongly labeled envelopes.
Board of elections officials said they are working with the vendor, Ohio Envelope Manufacturing Company, to figure out how the error happened. According to a release, arrangement are being made with Huron County to properly return any ballots that were incorrectly sent back to Darke County.
“We certainly regret this error, but with the help of Huron County Board of Elections we can make a commitment to every impacted Darke County voter that their ballot will be counted,” said Darke County Director Paul Schlecty.
Darke County Board of Election said it encourages any voter who received the incorrect return envelope to drop their absentee ballot off at the Darke County BOE office instead of mailing it to Huron County.
