Officer hurt, 2 arrested after police say they attacked officers

CLAYTON — Two people were arrested and an officer taken to the hospital after police were called to Crownwood Avenue and were assaulted, according to Clayton Police Chief Matt Hamlin.

Officers responded to the 4200 block of Crownwood, when a man came from the house and confronted an officer, knocking away his Taser. A fight ensued and a second officer was able to use his Taser on the suspect, Hamlin said.

A second person, a 16-year-old boy, also came out from the house and tried to assault the officers. The teen was arrested.

One of the officers suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The adult was taken to the hospital, which is standard procedure when a suspect is Tased, Hamlin said.

The teen was transported to the juvenile detention center. The adult will be taken to jail after he’s treated at the hospital.
