Motorcyclist suffers serious injuries in hit-and-run crash in Miami Twp.

MIAMI TWP. — A Centerville man was hospitalized with serious injuries after a hit-and-run crash on state Route 725 in Miami Twp. Wednesday night, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported near the intersection of state Routes 725 and 741 just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

The motorcyclist, identified at Cory Barney, 28, crashed into the back of a car that attempted to pull out of a private drive near the northeast corner of the intersection.

The driver of the car, identified as William Ratliff, 28, of Nashville, Tennessee, initially fled the scene but was located a short time later.

Barney was transported to Kettering Medical Center with injuries described as serious.

Ratliff was not injured in the crash.

State troopers said Barney was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Failure to yield and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, according to investigators. State troopers did not indicate if either driver is facing charges or citations.
