HARRISON TWP. — A 19-year-old was indicted on murder and other charges stemming from the shooting of a woman in Harrison Twp. last year.

A Montgomery County grand jury indicted Javontay Clark, of Dayton, on several counts stemming from the slaying of Heather Jones, 26, in November 2019, Montgomery County Prosecutor Mat Heck Jr. said Tuesday in a media release.

Jones died six days after the shooting on Wenz Court, in the Stillwater Park Apartments in Harrison Twp., officials said.

Clark was indicted Tuesday on two counts of murder, two counts of felonious assault, tampering with evidence, and two other weapons charges, the prosecutor’s office said.

There are five additional pending cases against Clark, including four where he is accused of assaulting other inmates in the Montgomery County Jail, Heck said.

“This defendant, at just 19 years of age, is undoubtedly a very violent and dangerous person. He shot a completely innocent stranger to death and has assaulted other inmates while in jail. He needs to be prosecuted and sentenced to a lengthy term of incarceration," Heck said in the statement to media.

Clark remains jailed on a $500,000 bond. He will be arraigned on the new charges Thursday.
