MUST-SEE VIDEO: ATV bumps cruisers during chase on Ohio highway

AKRON — Troopers chased down and boxed in a fleeing ATV with two riders illegally driving on the interstate.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol posted a video of the incident Friday on its Facebook page.

The video shows the ATV bumping one cruiser before finally stopping when it backed into another cruiser.

Once the ATV stopped, troopers said the driver fled but the passenger surrendered.

The driver was apprehended a short time later and was charged with fleeing and eluding and for not having an operator’s license, the highway patrol said.

Watch as troopers stop an ATV driving on an Akron-area interstate. In Ohio, it is illegal to ride an ATV on a limited access highway, freeway or right-of-way. Troopers from the Akron Post spotted the ATV driving on the interstate and were able to bring the situation to a safe resolution by boxing in the ATV. Once stopped, the driver fled and the passenger surrendered. The driver was apprehended a short time later and charged with fleeing and eluding as well as no operator’s license.

The three-mile pursuit started May 21 on Interstate 277 and ended when the ATV ran into the back of a cruiser on Interstate 76, according to reports.
