Threats to Meadowdale HS principal prompts response

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating after a female student allegedly posted threats on Facebook against a Meadowdale High School principal.

Deputies responded to the school on Monday around 1:30 p.m. after Principal Brian McKnight alerted investigators to the threatening post.

We obtained the incident report and a copy of the post which reads, “I want somebody to beat tf outta Mr. McKnight. I will literally pay you to dress in all black, and catch this man lacking.”

In the sheriff’s office incident report, McKnight told deputies, “I feel this is a credible threat and should not be taken lightly. I have voiced my concern for the safety of myself, family, staff and students. I am fearful with the fact that a hit was put out on me and I am to to return to the building as of 4/18/16.”

Dayton Public Schools spokeswoman, Jill Moberley acknowledged the district was investigating an incident involving a student making an “inappropriate” Facebook post after she was told she did not meet the criteria for prom queen. Moberley said school officials met with the student who posted the message on Facebook, and her parents, on Monday.

The student involved will be disciplined in line with the district’s student code of conduct, Moberley said.

Moberley added that the school’s safety department was involved in the investigation, which is standard protocol when a serious infraction is made or the district deems an incident worthy of an investigation.

Deputies have forwarded McKnight’s case on to detectives, who could present the case to prosecutor’s if charges are warranted.
