Tequila bottle shatters minivan window, rattles Huber Heights family

HUBER HEIGHTS — A Huber Heights family is looking for answers, after someone threw a liquor bottle at their minivan, shattering the back windshield while it was parked in the driveway.

“Something like this absolutely rattles my nerves,” Hunter Patterson said.

News Center 7’s Monica Castro talked with the family about the cleanup, and what else they plan to do about it.

For the past day, the Pattersons have been dealing with shards of glass throughout their minivan.

“The impact was so hard, it put glass into the front seat of the van, and knocked the lid off the bottle,” he said.

Surprisingly, nothing in the van had been taken.

“All the contents were in there that we were donating to Goodwill, such as a TV, mixer,” he said.

But they did find something that didn’t belong, the object that someone used to break out the window.

“We noticed there was an 1800 Tequila bottle that was laying right there in the middle of the van,” Patterson said.

He called the Huber Heights Police Division to file a report, and now is hoping the culprit can be caught.

“Several of our neighbors do have surveillance cameras that were aimed at the driveway at three different angles,” Patterson said.

Now, the Pattersons said they plan to meet with neighbors and police in the coming days to get a neighborhood watch program started.
