Suspects in Salem Ave. shooting death believed to hit police cruiser

UPDATE @ 1:39 p.m. (Nov. 17):

A Dayton police homicide sergeant confirmed the people believed to be involved in the shooting death of John Madden III are the same men that hit a Dayton police cruiser Sunday in a stolen car.

Those two men, Isaiah Youngblood, 18, and K Lone Dashawn Snowden, 18, remain in jail and could face additional charges, police said.

A third male, 17, is in juvenile custody in connection to Madden’s death.

UPDATE @ 12:17 p.m. (Nov. 17):

The man who was shot while walking on the sidewalk along Salem Avenue has died, according to the coroner’s office.

John Madden III, 24, of Dayton, died from a gunshot wound to the head at Miami Valley Hospital on Monday at 4:10 p.m., a spokesperson with the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office said.

Madden’s death has been ruled a homicide.

UPDATE @ 8:10 p.m. (Nov. 12):

A man in his 20s was shot in the face as he was walking on the sidewalk along Salem Avenue.

Motorists stopped to help the man, who suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken by Dayton medics to Miami Valley Hospital, police said.

Dayton police said they do not have a motive or suspects.


A gunshot victim was found tonight in the middle of the road near the AM PM market.

The business reported just before 7 p.m. that a man was on the ground in the 2300 block of Salem Avenue who was believed to have been shot.

The man was taken to Miami Valley Hospital, but his name and condition were not available.

Salem Avenue is blocked in the area of the incident.
