LEBANON — A Springboro man accused of abusing two young girls in incidents six years apart has entered a plea and is headed to prison, according to Warren County Jail records.
Brian M. Jones, 31, was scheduled to begin trial on Monday in Warren County Common Pleas Court for attempted rape, sexual battery and two counts of gross sexual imposition, according to on-line court records.
Following his indictment, Jones pleaded guilty by reason of insanity, but was found competent to stand trial and assist in his defense.
On Wednesday, Jan. 3, Jones entered a plea during a hearing with Judge Timothy Tepe. Also Jones received an “explanation of duties to register as sex offender or child victim offender,” according to on-line court records.
The jail records indicate he was sentenced to prison, but show him on Sunday still in the jail in Lebanon.
In May, Amy Tranter, an assistant in the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, was assigned as a special prosecutor to the case. Tranter and Joseph Auciello Jr., a lawyer appointed to represent Jones, could not be immediately reached Sunday to discuss details of the plea or sentencing.
Jones has been in the county jail more than eight months since his arrest on April 18 in Springboro in connection with the cases in Springboro and Lebanon.
