Teen girl stabbed after two groups of juveniles fight in Greenville

GREENVILLE — UPDATE @ 12:05 a.m. (June 1)

Two people are detained after a teenage girl was stabbed Thursday night during a fight between two groups of juveniles in the 300 block of Riffle Avenue, Greenville police said.

However, police would not say whether anyone is charged nor what led to the fight.

The girl who was stabbed was taken by CareFlight to Dayton Children’s Hospital. Her name, age and condition were not released. According to initial reports, she may have been as young as 13.

Riffle Avenue resident Dennis Meade said he didn’t hear a commotion until he saw police pull up outside.

“It’s a sad day,” he said of the fighting that led to a girl getting stabbed. “It should have never happened.”

A teenage girl was stabbed tonight during a fight between two groups of juveniles, Greenville police said.

The girl was flown to Dayton Children’s Hospital. Her name and condition were not available.

One person has been detained by police, but it’s not clear whether anyone has been charged.

Police have yellow tape up in the 500 block of Riffle Avenue at 12th Street in Greenville.

FIRST REPORT

Police and medics were called tonight to a report that a teenager had been stabbed.

The incident was reported sometime around 10 p.m. in the 300 block of 12th Street.

According to initial reports, the victim was about 13.

A medical helicopter was called to the scene.
