Police on scene of shooting in Dayton

Police are investigating a shooting tonight the victim said occurred as he was getting out of his car.

The man told Dayton police he was fired upon at about 9 p.m. in the 400 block of Burleigh Avenue. We're told he suffered a gunshot wound to the back of his leg.

A family member took the victim to the hospital, where they called police.

Police officers and an evidence crew were at the scene of the shooting at 11 p.m., looking for more evidence. They found the man's Cadillac with as many as five bullet holes in it. They also found shell casings.

We're told that neighbors reported seeing a blue Durango at the time of the shooting and they believe the gunfire came from that vehicle.

Police have issued an alert to officers on street patrol to be on the lookout for a vehicle fitting that description.
