Police report: Wayne Avenue resident stabs burglar

UPDATE @ 11:13 a.m. (Oct. 30)

A man stabbed Thursday night in the 1100 block of Wayne Avenue was reportedly one of two subjects that forced entry into an apartment, according to a police report.

Dayton police were called to the 1100 block of Wayne Avenue about 7 p.m. Thursday for a robbery report.

The 26-year-old male victim told police he was watching YouTube on his cell phone at his kitchen table when he heard a knock on his door.

Two guests inside the front room of the apartment answered the door and encountered two black males — one in a black hooded sweatshirt and the other in a red hooded sweatshirt — with a gun, according to the police report. The men demanded to be let inside.

Once inside, the subjects began to attack the two men in the front room.

The 26-year-old man in the kitchen grabbed a spear that was hanging on the kitchen wall and stabbed the suspect wearing a black hooded sweatshirt in the back. The spear is made from a broom stick and a metal, double-edge blade, according to police.

The suspects then fled.
