Police: Man picks up prostitute but 'chickened out'

A 50-year-old Dayton man who told police he "chickened out" was still arrested Friday for allegedly soliciting prostitution.

Police reportedly saw Timothy M. Jones pick up a known prostitute, a woman identified as Marianne J. Jones, 25, just after noon in the 3100 block of East Third Street, according to the Dayton police report.

Police followed them to a park off Springfield Street, where officers approached them on a path. Timothy Jones told police he picked up the woman, but said, "I didn't have sex with her I chickened out." He confirmed the price he agreed to pay the woman for sex, and said it was the first time he ever picked up a prostitute, according to the police report.

Jones was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of soliciting; loitering to engage in solicitation; and drug possession, all misdemeanors. He later was released.

Marianne Jones was issued a summons arrest, according to the report.
