Police arrest suspect in Friday night fatal shooting

Police in Dayton have made an arrest in the shooting death of 60-year-old Lynn Shackelford.

Ralphiel Marciano Harris, 27, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of murder. He was arrested by Dayton police Saturday morning in the 5600 block of Hoover Avenue, according to jail records.

Friends and family of Shackelford are expected to meet at 6:30 p.m. this evening for a vigil in the 600 block of Summit Square Drive.

The man who was fatally shot in the 600 block of Summit Square Drive late Friday night has been identified as Lynn Shackelford, 60, of Dayton, according to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

The victim of a shooting reported at Summit Square Apartments is dead, according to dispatchers.

Crews were sent to the reported shooting at the apartment complex around 11:35 p.m. Friday.

Police told our crew the man who was fatally shot was running a store out of his apartment.

Officers said they believe the man was killed when a suspect attempted to rob the makeshift store.

Police and medics were called late tonight to a report of a shooting at the Summit Square Apartments.

The shooting was reported around 11:35 p.m. in the 600 block of Summit Square Drive, with at least one person injured.
