First suspect identified in Dayton jewelry store break-in; police searching for second suspect

Police arrested one person and are searching for a second suspect after two people attempted to break into Gordons Jewelry & Loan early Monday morning on East Third Street in Dayton.

Connell Gray, 23, was booked on vandalism, breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools, according to a police report. Charges have not yet officially been filed.

Police arrived at the scene as the suspects were attempting to enter the business, so it’s not clear if they took anything, officers said.

One of the suspects was tackled and immediately taken into custody, and the other fled. Police chased the person, who at one point was on a rooftop, but they did not catch the suspect, officers said.

The second suspect’s identity has not been released.
