Person of interest held in Miami Twp. shooting

UPDATE @ 5:20 p.m. (March 15)

The victim in this shooting was struck in the arm by a pellet fired from a pellet gun, according to Capt. John McGill of Miami Twp. police. He said this is part of an ongoing feud between two families.

McGill said a person of interest from one of the families is being held on an unrelated charge while a felonious assault charge is being considered in the case.

UPDATE @ 3:05 a.m. (March 15)

Police said an ongoing dispute between families resulted in one person shot in Miami Twp. Monday night.

Officers responded to the 6700 block of Farmington Road around 10:30 p.m. on reports of shots fired in the area with one person possibly shot.

Miami Township Police Sgt. Mike Siney said one person was found with a gunshot wound to the arm and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The victim was treated and released according to Siney.

The incident stemmed from an earlier verbal altercation between two families in the area that have had ongoing issues according to Siney.

Siney would not confirm if officers arrested the suspected shooter, but said one person was taken into custody on charges unrelated to the shooting.

A search warrant was planned to be executed at the house this morning.

The incident remains under investigation by the Miami Township Police Department.

Several officers in Miami Twp. are investigating an incident that occurred in the area of Farmington and Vaughn roads late Monday night.

We’re checking reports that one person was shot around 11:30 p.m. Monday, but police on scene have not given an update to their investigation.
