More than $120K of heroin seized from Bethel Twp. home

More than $120,000 of heroin was seized from a Bethel Twp. home Wednesday night by the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.

This is the largest seizure of heroin made by a road deputy in sheriff’s office history.

Robert Carpenter, of Fairborn, was arrested on Gerlaugh Road by sheriff’s deputies after a raid of a home in the in the 10000 block of Gerlaugh Road Wednesday. Carpenter appeared in court today and pleaded not guilty on charges of drug trafficking, possession of drugs and having weapons under disability. His bond was set at $250,000.

Investigators took 1.5 kilos of heroin, multiple guns, cars, cash and other items from the home during their search, said Clark County Sheriff Gene Kelly.

Deputies conducted the search warrant after a Bethel Twp. resident tipped off the sheriff’s office that drug activity was happening at the Sunoco on Lower Valley Pike just ouside of Medway.

Deputies and detectives staked out the parking lot, saw a hand-to-hand drug deal involving Carpenter and pulled him over after the drug deal.

Deputies then got a warrant to search his house, where they found the drugs and guns.
