SPRINGFIELD — UPDATE (10/6/17) @ 2:45 a.m: A man is in fair condition after he was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach on Thursday.
Joseph Diehl, 40, was flown to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight after being shot in the 300 block of S. Clairmont Avenue.
Springfield police Capt. Michael Varner said Diehl was uncooperative with investigators.
Nonetheless, police continue to investigate how the incident occurred.

Joseph Diehl, 40, was found with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
He was flown to Miami Valley Hospital. His condition was unknown by police as of Thursday evening.
Diehl was uncooperative with investigators, Springfield police Capt. Michael Varner said.
Diehl called 911 and asked for an ambulance. “Please hurry. Please,” he said to dispatchers. “I’m bleeding really bad.”

A man was transported to Miami Valley Hospital via CareFlight after being shot in the abdomen in a second Springfield shooting, per initial reports.
The incident occurred just after midnight on Thursday in the 300 block of S. Clairmont Avenue.
His condition is unknown and police continue to investigate how the shooting occurred.

The victim was initially transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, but Careflight is now en route to bring them to Miami Valley Hospital, per scanners.
