Police arrest driver who crashes pickup into fence at Dayton VA grounds

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 11:10 p.m.

A 28-year-old man was found slumped over inside a red Dodge Ram pickup truck this morning that had jumped the curb and struck a metal fence on the VA grounds

The pickup truck was still running and in drive, when officers responded around 5 a.m.; the driver, Bobby Anderson, appeared unconscious, according to a Dayton police report.

When an officer opened the driver’s side door, put the vehicle in park and turned off the ignition, Anderson awakened and sat upright in the driver’s seat, the report stated.

According to the report, police found a clear plastic baggie containing marijuana and a pipe, and Anderson was booked into the Montgomery County Jail. He has since been released.

The single-car accident occurred when a pickup truck crashed into a gate of the Dayton VA grounds at the intersection of Gettysburg and Tennessee avenues.

No other information was immediately available.
