HAMILTON — Hamilton police have identified a man who was shot and killed early Saturday morning, and say a second shooting shortly after is connected.
Aldon Litman, 42, of Hamilton, was shot and pronounced dead near the corner of South Front Street and Wilson Street after an argument, police said. The preliminary cause of death is gunshot wounds and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Butler County Coroner’s Office.
Police said there was an argument between Litman and Omar Kirkland, 36, of Hamilton.
Witnesses reported hearing gunshots, and each man received gunshot wounds, police said.
Kirkland received treatment for multiple gunshot wounds and is in stable condition at a local hospital, police said.
Then at 1:15 p.m. Saturday — about 12 hours after the first shooting — another shooting occurred in the area of Hurm Street and South Front Street, according to police
Scott Alexander Jones Sr., 47, of Hamilton, shot Albert Givens, 31, of Hamilton, according to police.
Givens was transported to a local hospital where he is in stable condition, according to police.
Jones was located shortly after the shooting by Hamilton police. He was arrested and has been charged with felonious assault.
Police believe the two shootings are related. Members of the community witnessed the shootings, according to police, and they are urging those people to come forward.
