‘God told me to do it,’ woman says after allegedly assaulting medics

A woman told police God told her to assault two Dayton Fire Department medics who were trying to help transport her to the hospital for treatment of anxiety this morning.

Medics responded to the woman’s home on Kling Drive around midnight in response to her suffering from anxiety and postpartum depression, according to a Dayton police report.

As medics tried to load the woman onto a cot she reached up and grabbed one of them by the head and scratched their ear causing it to bleed, the report said.

Once at the hospital, the woman, while talking with one of the medics said, "You don't believe in God," and punched her in the head with a closed fist, according to the report.

According to the report, police interviewed the woman and she told them she assaulted the medics, because "God told me to do it."

The woman received a summons for charges, the report said.
