Feds: Shelby Co. man had more than 260,000 child porn images, 700 videos

DAYTON — A 49-year-old Shelby County man was sentenced to 36 months in prison in a child pornography case, the Cincinnati FBI tweeted late Friday night.

Robert Phelps pleaded guilty April 13 in U.S. District Court to possession of child pornography involving prepubescent minors.

According to court documents in this case, federal agents in July seized one computer that contained more than 6,300 images and 590 videos of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct during a search of Phelps’ Jackson Center home.  A separate hard drive contained an additional 255,000 images and 120 videos,  news release from Benjamin C. Glassman, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio.

He was one of three defendants convicted in the Southern District of Ohio as the result of a national FBI investigation, “Operation Pacifier,” which involved the take-down of a “dark web” site dedicated to child pornography, Glassman stated.

The investigation led to 350 arrests in the U.S., the prosecution of 25 child porn producers and 51 sexual abusers. Also, 55 American children subjected to sexual abuse were identified or rescued.
