The Shawnee Elementary School PTO treasurer is accused of embezzling about $6,000 from the organization.

She is due in court Friday for an attorney status hearing after she pleaded not guilty last week during her arraignment in Xenia Municipal Court.

According to a Feb. 1 Xenia police report, Garilyn Calhoun, president of the parent-teacher organization, noticed discrepancies in finances and believed that approximately $6,000 was unaccounted for. She provided documents from Long and actual statements from the PTO’s accounts at Wright Patt Credit Union to police that allegedly showed multiple transactions that did not match, the police report stated.
