DeWine warns of Pike County victim scam calls

Ohio Attorney Gen. Mike DeWine warns of scam calls soliciting donations for the family of Pike County massacre victims.

A caller who claims he is with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office was asking for money to benefit the victims of the shooting deaths. These calls are not from the sheriff’s office, Sheriff Charles Reader and DeWine stated. They urge residents to not give money to anyone claiming to be with the sheriff’s office and to be on alert for scam artists who may try to take advantage of the tragedy.
