Dayton police arrest Tennessee man wanted for murder

DAYTON — A man on Tennessee’s Top 10 Most Wanted list was nabbed in Dayton overnight.

Demetrius D. Covington, 28, is in Montgomery County Jail awaiting extradition to Tennessee.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation announced Covington was wanted by the Elizabethton Police Department and TBI in connection with the death of a 3-year-old child, according to a release.

Covington is charged with murder in the first degree.

He was found at a Dayton apartment complex on Central Avenue by members of the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force and Dayton police.
