Dayton — Brock Turner’s defense lawyer argues that Turner was harmed when a judge would not allow four Dayton-area character witnesses to testify about his honesty during his sexual assault trial last year in California.
The Oakwood graduate’s lawyer is seeking a new trial in a brief submitted to court.
The judge restricted testimony from Turner’s friend, an ex-girlfriend and two swim coaches, and the lawyer said the ex-Stanford University student “was deprived of due process, a fair trial, and his right to present a defense.”
The argument is one of five presented by Turner’s new attorney Eric Multhaup in a new 172-page appeal seeking to clear his client of a conviction stemming the January 2015 assault of a 22-year-old woman at Stanford University.
