UPDATE: 1 dies after motorcycle collision with a car in Darke County, cause still under investigation

Monroe Twp. Darke County — UPDATE @ 7:02 a.m.

One person has died after crashing a motorcycle into a car on Grubbs-Rex Road near Pitsburg in Darke County early Saturday morning, according to a release from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Cody Schaar, 28, of Greeneville Ohio, died at Miami Valley Hospital after hitting a maroon 2016 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Joel Garber, 31, of Gordon Ohio, with his white 2005 Suzuki GSX-R600.

According to the release, the impact caused Schaar to be ejected from the motorcycle. Mr. Schaar was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Schaar was taken to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the DCSO.


INITIAL REPORT

CareFlight has been called to the scene of a motorcycle crash involving a car at the 8400 block of Grubbs-Rex Road in Monroe Twp. near Pitsburg, in Darke County.

According to reports, the motorcyclist was breathing but not conscious.

The crash was reported at around 2:15 a.m.
