MIDDLETOWN — A three-vehicle crash that occurred at Verity Parkway and Germantown Road in Middletown this morning closed the intersection, which has since reopened.
One of the vehicles involved in the crash, which occurred around 10 a.m., leaked diesel oil, and road crews are on the scene cleaning up the spill. Three Middletown ambulances are on the scene, but the extent of those injured is unknown.
The driver of a semi truck allegedly ran a red light at the intersection, sending three people to the hospital and closing the intersection as city employees spread dirt to clean up the diesel fuel spill.
Maj. David Birk from the Middletown Division of Police said the driver of the semi allegedly ran the light as he was traveling south on Germantown Road. His semi hit another vehicle, and that vehicle collided with another car. The driver of the semi was cited for a red-light violation, Birk said.
