“In the past few years, we began quietly fundraising to make this big vision to transform animal welfare a reality,” Brian Weltge, President and CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton said in a written statement. “We’re proud to say that we are fully funded with the first phase of this campaign.”

A regional, full-service and needs-based animal hospital will assist all pet owners in and surrounding the Montgomery County, regardless of income.

A regional, high-volume spay and neuter clinic will work to humanely and effectively battle cat overpopulation, an issue many neighborhoods are facing.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton performs 4,000 spay and neuter surgeries annually, and expects a 400 percent increase in these surgeries.

A cruelty and neglect animal rehabilitation center will house, protect and rehabilitate all types of animals, allowing the humane society to house large-breed animals like horses.

The Humane Society of Greater Dayton has plans to build near Austin Landing in the future, creating an adoption and community center to meet the needs of more animals while saving more lives, the nonprofit says.
