Residents in Darke, Preble, Greene, and Montgomery counties can apply for/receive the Home Energy Assistance Winter Crisis Program (HEAP) until March 31, 2019, according to a release. This program provides eligible Ohioans with heating assistance if:

- The household has a gross income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty level.
Households interested in the program must schedule an appointment and bring the following items with them:
- Proof of income (copies of pay stubs)
- Copies of their most recent energy bills
- List of all household members with Social Security numbers and birth dates
- Proof of U.S. citizenship/legal residency for all household members (social security card, birth certificate, U.S. Passport, naturalization paper/certification of citizenship, permanent VISA, or INS ID card)
Interested residents can call 937-514-4777 or go online to miamivalleycap.org to schedule an appointment.
