Beavercreek native becomes unicycling Rubik’s Cube juggler

CEDARVILLE, Ohio — Thaddeus Krueger, a Beavercreek native, who is now a sophomore at Cedarville University, can turn a head or two as he juggles while riding his unicycle on campus.

“It’s just a silly trick,” Thaddeus said.

What many people don’t see is while juggling on the unicycle, Thaddeus is also solving a Rubik’s cube. A silly trick that mixes balance with hand eye coordination, concentration and multitasking that took years to master.

Thaddeus said he learned the trio of tricks in phases

“I kind of taught myself how to juggle,” Thaddeus said. “About the same time I was learning to juggle, I got a unicycle for my birthday.”

And on a separate note, “My older brother learned how to do the Rubiks cubs who inspired my younger brother who inspired me.” Thaddeus said it was his friends who gave him the thought of combining the three tasks.

“They would ask me, can you do it at the same time and I was mostly a joke…and I would say no that’s impossible that’s ridiculous,” Thaddeus said.

Impossible and ridiculous, two words Thaddeus can no longer use as he solves a Rubik’s cube, while juggling it with two juggling balls while on a unicycle. And he can do it all in a little more than two minutes and 32 seconds.

“It shows what you can do if you put your time into it,” Thaddeus said. "Because it is really hard but if you put the time and effort into something, it can pay off.

Thaddeus says he believes he’s the first in the world to do such a trick.

However, he plans to continue practicing, get more consistent and then submit it to the Guinness Book of World Records.
