Authorities said three people were arrested and accused of being too drunk to care for their children.

Officers made the arrests in two separate incidents in Springfield.

Pamela Fraley was charged with two counts of child endangering. On Monday, officers were called to her Stanton Avenue home in Springfield because the father of her children was worried about the welfare of his two daughters.

Police said when officers arrived at the house, Fraley was “very intoxicated” and not cooperating with officers.

According to police, one child told officers that she was scared and did not want to stay with Fraley. Police determined that Fraley was too intoxicated to care for the girls and they were placed in the care of their father.

A neighbor saw what happened and said it was one of the saddest days she has seen in a while.

Tonya Williams said, “She’s a good girl. She’s trying to get her life in order. She’s been in the system and I’ve been trying to help her with the girls. She’s not a drinker, but it just happened to be that day.”

The other two, Bradley Atkins and Kimberly Martin were arrested just before midnight Tuesday. News Center 7 is working to get more details on their case.
