‘Smiling dog’ survives tornadoes, looking for good home

Demmy can’t tell us his back story, so we will have to fill in the blanks.

“He’s a really nice dog, but young and very, very active,” she said.

A Humane Society Facebook post says Demmy “is always happy and smiling and will smile his way straight into your heart.”

The elderly woman who found Demmy tried to take care of him, but could not handle him due to an illness. 

The woman’s daughter took Demmy for awhile, but didn’t not have time to devote to him. 

She turned him over to the Humane Society of Preble County, a no-kill shelter, on Oct. 29.

Renner said it is not clear how Demmy was displaced from his original family during the tornadoes. 

He is in need of a good home now, she said.

“He does well with anybody. He really does,” Renner said. “Somebody who is definitely active would be wonderful.”

Demmy has been neutered, microchipped and is current on his shots. 

His adoption fee is $190.
