SUV slams into attached garage of home

VANDALIA — Speed and rain are being blamed in an accident involving an SUV that slammed into the attached garage of a home Thursday night.

The driver wasn't injured but the garage door to the home in the 9700 block of Frederick Pike was destroyed, a Butler Twp. police sergeant said.

No one appeared to be at home.

Police and fire crews from the township and Vandalia were dispatched about 8:15 p.m. on the report of a vehicle into a house.

The posted speed limit on that stretch of Frederick is 50 mph. There was no estimate from police as to how fast the SUV may have been traveling.
