UPDATE: 57-year-old man identified as victim stabbed to death, found in Dayton alley

DAYTON — UPDATE @ 9:20 a.m. (July 10):

The Montgomery County Coroner said a man found dead in a Dayton alley Wednesday was stabbed multiple times and his death was ruled a homicide.

Terry B. Young, 57, was identified as the victim killed in the stabbing, according to Montgomery County Coroner Dr. Kent Harshbarger.

Young was found dead in an alley near Gebhart Street Wednesday afternoon, suffering from stab wounds and was also hit by a car, Dayton police previously told News Center 7.

Investigators said they had a description of a suspect in the incident, however the description was not released. It was not known if any arrests have been made.

FIRST REPORT (July 8):

Dayton police believe a man found in an alley behind a house on Gebhart Street was stabbed to death before he was hit by a vehicle, Lt. Steven Bauer said.

Police were dispatched to the address about 5:48 p.m. Wednesday and found the victim, believed to be 58-year-old man, in the alley where he was deceased, Bauer said. The name of the victim was not not released, pending notification of family and further investigation by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.

Police are looking for a suspect, but Bauer did not indicate whether the person who drove away after hitting the man was the same person who stabbed the man to death. Police do have a description of a suspect, though Bauer did not release details.

Homicide detectives and a police crash reconstruction team remain were called to investigate the scene.

Additional details about the investigation were not released.
