Mercer County, Celina arrest 6, issue 14 citations as part of Grand Lake Task Force drug initiative

CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff’s deputies and Celina police made 16 traffic stops and issued 14 citations over two days in conjunction with the Grand Lake Task Force in a statewide drug initiative, Sheriff Jeff Grey and Police Chief Tom Wale said Thursday night.

The two law enforcement agencies were part of “Operation Blue Light,” which focused enforcement efforts on drugs and other criminal offenses. The sheriff’s office and police department assigned extra deputies and officers to assist the task force.

Beside the traffic stops, officers and deputies issued nine citations, 18 warnings for various traffic violations, and five misdemeanor citations for drug abuse instruments, drug paraphernalia, marijuana and obstructing official business.

The officers and deputies also arrested six people on outstanding warrants and or crimes:

  • Kevin Howard, 33, 400 block of Touvelle Street, Celina
  • Wayne Storer, 38, 19000 block of Williams Road, Wapakoneta
  • Jordan Simmons,18, 1400 West Market, Celina. Also arrested on charges of drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business
  • Donald Noggler, 52, 200 block of Buckeye Street, Rockford
  • Jordan Cummins, 23, 1000 block of West Bank Road, Celina
  • Kimberly Hawkey-Schmidt, 37, 400 block of Touvelle Street, Celina. Arrested on charges of drug possession (methamphetamine, heroin), possession of drug abuse instrument and drug paraphernalia.

Additional charges are pending stemming from an ongoing investigation related to assorted drug offenses, Grey and Wale said.
